John Wiley & Sons Inc., a global leader in research and education, and CPI Group, the largest book printer in Europe, announced today a partnership bringing together a total supply chain solution including demand planning, print and distribution, customer service, and credit collection. The partnership will establish a state-of-the-art inkjet print production facility within Wiley’s European Distribution Centre (EDC) in Bognor Regis, United Kingdom.
“We have a fantastic relationship with CPI and are thrilled to partner with them on this exciting project,” said Cary Hamill, VP of Global Supply Chain and Strategic Sourcing for Wiley. “We believe our collective expertise will provide an innovative solution to publishers for their print, inventory management and distribution needs – whilst continuing to provide our customers and clients with an even better level of service.”
The collaboration will focus on a range of print strategies, including Print on Demand, Zero Inventory and ultra-short run Auto Stock Replenishment. Combining Wiley’s distribution experience, CPI’s digital print expertise and the inventory analytics that both parties offer, the partnership will give publishers granular visibility into the full cost of production, supporting overall cost savings through effective stock management, demand planning and full-service distribution delivery.
“CPI is delighted to be partnering with Wiley on this exciting and innovative project,” said Alison Kaye, MD STMA Division for CPI. “This endeavor has been a true team effort and we believe that our combined offering provides both the UK and European publishing industry with a unique proposition.”
Installation will begin at the start of 2021. Edward Elgar Publishing is the first UK publisher to take advantage of this new solution and will move their distribution activities to Wiley’s Bognor facility this August.
