Domtar recognizes Diaper Need Awareness Week every year during the third week in September. This week draws attention to the issue of diaper poverty in the United States. Launched in 2012 by the National Diaper Bank Network (NDBN), Diaper Need Awareness Week encourages real talk and simple actions to ensure that all parents and caregivers have access to clean diapers and other necessities so their babies can thrive. To mark this important initiative, the mayor of Delaware, Ohio, proclaimed the week of Sept. 21 as Diaper Need Awareness Week in the city. This proclamation is particularly special to us because our Personal Care facility that manufactures our baby diaper products is in Delaware, Ohio.

Polar® Smooth 150 Air - This 6-mil (150μ), self-adhesive white polymeric printable matte PVC film with removable bubble-free air egress adhesive technology is designed for graphics that need to be easily installed and removed without the need for lamination. It is suitable for numerous applications such as temporary construction hoardings, point of sale applications, interior décor applications – including the installation of graphics onto windows, walls, melamine and glass – as well as most other flat or simple curve surfaces. Dimensionally stable, Polar® Smooth 150 Air is phthalate-free, can be applied without stretching or tearing, and is cleanly removable. It is coated with a pressure-sensitive, removable aqueous acrylic adhesive protected by a 90# PE coated kraft bubble free release paper.

Stora Enso has started a feasibility study and an environmental impact assessment (EIA) for a possible investment in Oulu. The feasibility study and the EIA evaluate a potential conversion of the Oulu paper mill into packaging board production. The feasibility study is expected to be concluded by the end of 2018, and the EIA process is expected to take a minimum of 6 months. Currently, Oulu Mill has a production capacity of 360 000 tons of chemical softwood pulp and 1 080 000 tons of woodfree coated papers on two paper machines. The potential investment would include a new chemi-thermomechanical pulp (CTMP) plant, a brown-based cartonboard line with a capacity of 450 000 t/a and a kraftliner line with a capacity of 400 000 t/a. The potential conversion of Oulu Mill would enable Stora Enso to further improve its position in the growing consumer board and packaging solutions businesses and take a major step in its transformation.
