Vera Magazine Virgin Atlantic
The coolest British brand in the skies? Virgin Atlantic. But don’t take our word for it – the airline is regularly voted the best British travel brand in CoolBrand’s annual report. Which is why it made perfect sense for Virgin Atlantic to pair up with Ink to reimagine its inflight magazine, Vera, and manage their ambient advertising on the ground and in the air.
If you’re lucky enough to be travelling onboard a Virgin Atlantic flight to the US, Caribbean, Africa, Middle East or Asia this month, you’ll get a chance to flick through the gorgeous, new-look Vera. The new magazine is packed with stories cleverly relating to Virgin Atlantic’s award-winning onboard entertainment and dazzling destinations. For the relaunch, we bagged an exclusive interview and cover shoot with English rose turned Hollywood golden girl Annabelle Wallis. Readers can watch her go toe-to-toe with Tom Cruise in The Mummy, and then read about how she deals with her high-profile relationship with rock star Chris Martin, saving us all in an Apocalypse (probably), and life lessons she learned from Madonna. And during the shoot we got to see those life lessons IRL. If you’ve seen Annabelle star in Peaky Blinders you’ll already have heard her sultry singing voice, but at London’s Claridge’s she gave us an impromptu performance of her favourite Madonna hits. We won’t forget her Like a Virgin in a hurry.
The new Baywatch movie might have flopped at the cinemas this summer, but in the 1990s more than a billion viewers around the world tuned in to watch the Hoff, Pammie and co saving lives, running slow and looking damn good in red swimwear. But how close is the fiction to reality? We caught up with LA county lifeguard Eric Howell to find out. And, have you ever wanted to leap between buildings like an arachnid-bitten acrobat? Okay, us neither, but it seems we’re in the minority because parkour is now taking the world by storm. For film fans interested in how to move like Spider-Man, we’ve got a fun, informative feature about the UK’s newest sport.
Parkour isn’t the only sporting story inside our October issue. This autumn the greats of the NFL are touching down in the UK, all thanks to Virgin Atlantic. The airline has the task of bringing eight elite teams – plus all their kit and staff – to London for four phenomenal games. Of course, the NFL is just one of a handful of iconic brands that Virgin Atlantic works with. The airline has a relationship with some of the world’s greatest cocktail bars, including London’s Dandelyan (voted the World’s Best Cocktail Bar at the Spirited Awards earlier this year), BlackTail in New York (voted Best New American Cocktail Bar) and Columbia Room in Washington DC (voted Best American Cocktail Bar). You can drink cocktails expertly crafted at these bars at Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses in Heathrow, JFK, Newark, San Francisco and Washington.
Read about these partnerships and more in our brand-new, high-flying issue. Some might say it’s going to be hard to top, but we’ve already got more exclusive interviews, behind-the-scene action and beautiful travel features up our sleeves. Vera for Virgin Atlantic is definitely now an A-list magazine for an A-list airline.
