Canon Solutions America, Inc. provides industry leading enterprise, production and large format printing solutions, supported by exceptional professional service offerings. The Production Print Solutions group specializes in high-speed, high-volume printing and is best known for its industry leading production inkjet portfolio.
The company strives to protect the environment throughout the entire life cycle of its products, from its energy efficient product design and manufacturing processes to its large format ink cartridge collection/recycling program and the elimination of hazardous substances from its products and services wherever possible.
Canon’s enthusiastic support of Two Sides is yet another way the company demonstrates its sustainability commitment.
“Canon is proud to be a Two Sides member as both organizations work to promote the sustainable narrative of print,” says Ed Jansen, Canon Solutions America Vice President of Marketing and Two Sides Board Member. “Working together, we are dispelling common environmental misconceptions by providing consumers with verifiable information on why print on paper is an attractive, practical and sustainable communications medium.”
Canon Solutions America also engages its production print customers in its sustainability efforts, helping them build their own sustainability portfolios while having a positive impact on developing communities and the environment. Every time a new production system is purchased, the Canon Eco Start Program works with Trees for the Future to plant trees to counterbalance that machine’s average expected CO2 emissions during its first year of operation.
Trees for the Future plants the trees in their unique Forest Garden system in poverty-stricken communities in Sub-Saharan Africa. These Forest Gardens provide families with fuel, food and a means to engage in local commerce. In addition to helping families, the trees planted help tackle environmental degradation, restore biodiversity and remove tons of greenhouse gas from the atmosphere.
Since 2010, Canon Solutions America has worked with Trees for the Future to plant more than 2.15 million trees on behalf of its customers. These trees have created 538 new Forest Gardens and helped more than 4,300 people on the pathway out of hunger and poverty. The total number of trees planted under the Eco Start Program will remove an estimated 77,882 metric tons of carbon from the atmosphere over the next 20 years.
“Creating a sustainable future for generations to come is a responsibility we take to heart, and one that is important to our customers as well,” says Canon Solutions America Executive Vice President Francis A. McMahon. “It has been a privilege to see the impact made through our Eco Start Program, and the planting of trees for each Canon production system purchased on behalf of our customers. We look forward to helping Trees for the Future achieve their goal of planting 1 billion trees by 2030.”
