Twin Rivers Paper Company Completes Sale of Pine Bluff Unbleached Kraft Mill

Earlier today we notified our employees that we have completed the sale of Twin Rivers’ unbleached Kraft paper mill in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to American Kraft Paper Industries, an affiliate of the global industrial group American Industrial Acquisition Corporation (AIAC). The sale of Pine Bluff is aligned with Twin Rivers’ strategy of prioritizing the growth of our core specialty papers business and product offering and investing in our Madawaska and New York assets.

Interfor to Sell Gilchrist, Oregon Specialty Sawmill

Interfor Corporation announced that it has reached an agreement to sell its specialty sawmill located in Gilchrist, Oregon to Neiman Enterprises Inc. The Gilchrist sawmill, which specializes in ponderosa and lodgepole pine boards, has been curtailed since mid-June of this year due to COVID-19 related economic factors. Prior to its curtailment, the mill produced approximately 80 million board feet of lumber per year and employed approximately 150 employees. The completion of the transaction is subject to customary conditions and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2020. Interfor will continue to own and operate its three US Northwest stud mills located in Molalla, Oregon, Longview, Washington and Port Angeles, Washington.

Irving Paper mill employee treated in hospital after butane detected

Irving Paper, Irving Wallboard plant and J.D. Irving Ltd. offices on Bayside Drive all remained closed Thursday night, but employees could be back to work on Friday, based on preliminary air quality tests at the mill, said Keith. "Employees will return to these work sites when two separate tests have determined we meet the safe, regulated exposure levels," she said. "Employee safety is our top priority and a responsibility that we take very seriously." "The evacuation of the mill and [air quality] testing was underway prior to the employee reporting to hospital," said Keith.
