CARBON BALANCED PAPER

A CARBON REDUCTION EVERYONE SHOULD COPY.

Since 2008, the Carbon Balanced Paper initiative has balanced 190,000 tons of CO2 and preserved high-conservation-value land. MIDLAND is proud to be the first to bring this initiative to North America in partnership with World Land Trust, an international conservation charity. Choosing Carbon Balanced Paper reduces the footprint of your printed media and helps you meet your commitment to green practices. By participating, you offset carbon, protect species and enhance your brand.

How does carbon balancing contribute to conservation?

Terrestrial habitats, such as forests, grasslands, and wet peatlands, contain large volumes of carbon in their biomass and soils. However, these habitats are being destroyed or degraded at an unprecedented rate, releasing stored carbon into the atmosphere and contributing to 10 to 20% of global GHG emissions.

The Carbon Balanced Paper program balances emissions by protecting threatened habitats that would otherwise have been lost, avoiding the release of stored carbon. This also enables the regeneration of degraded habitats, which gradually re-absorb atmospheric CO2.
