S&P Global Completes Sale of Fincentric

Global research and education leader Wiley announced the acquisition of J&J Editorial Services, LLC, a publishing services company based in the United States. The acquisition of J&J Editorial reinforces the company’s commitment to helping learned societies, professional associations and publishers achieve their missions. Founded in 2008 by Jennifer Deyton and Julie Nash, J&J Editorial provides expert offerings in editorial operations, production, copyediting, system support and consulting, allowing more than 120 clients to publish world-class titles that power the global knowledge ecosystem. Together, Wiley and J&J Editorial are better suited to help societies, associations and publishers manage change, deliver high-quality content, and provide vital service flexibility in a changing publishing landscape.

A summary of results for the second quarter ended July 30, 2022 as compared to the second quarter ended July 31, 2021: *Net sales of $805 million, down 7% as compared to last year on a reported basis and down 4% on a constant currency basis. *Gross profit rate of 57.9%, down approximately 730 basis points as compared to last year. The year-over-year decrease was primarily driven by higher product costs, which contributed 750 basis points, and the adverse impact of exchange rates, which accounted for 30 basis points. These impacts where partially offset by higher AUR at Abercrombie. *Operating expense, excluding other operating income, net, was up 4% compared to last year. The increase was driven primarily by inflation and higher digital fulfillment expenses partially offset by lower incentive-based compensation. Operating expense as a percentage of sales increased to 58.0% from 52.1% last year. *Operating loss of $2 million and $0 million on a reported and adjusted non-GAAP basis, respectively, as compared to operating income of $115 million and $116 million last year, on a reported and adjusted non-GAAP basis, respectively.

Bonnier USA has sold its marine media division to Craig Fuller’s Flying Media Group. The transaction was announced at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. Bonnier’s media division publishes the nation’s leading portfolio of iconic marine brands with Yachting, Boating, Sailing World, Cruising World, and Salt Water Sportsman, produces the award-winning SFTV television series, and hosts the Sailing World Regatta Series. “The sale of our marine media division marks our fifth transaction in shaping a group with full focus on experiential outdoor adventure,” said Jens Mueffelmann, Executive Chairman of Bonnier LLC. “Craig Fuller has vigorously transformed aviation media. He is the perfect new owner of our marine media division.”
