Smurfit Kappa Bag-in-Box at PACK EXPO Las Vegas 2017

Smurfit Kappa, leader in complete Bag-in-Box® packaging solutions, will be attending the PACK EXPO event from 25th – 27th September 2017 at the Las Vegas Convention Centre.

Bringing together more than 2000 exhibitors and 30,000 attendees, PACK EXPO Las Vegas is North America’s biggest packaging event and serves more than 40 industry sectors.

Smurfit Kappa will showcase its unique expertise in complete packaging solutions with its Bag-in-Box®, Pouch-Up®, Vitop tap and filling machines. Amcor and Kolon Industries partner to pioneer more sustainable polyester materials for packaging

Amcor has signed a strategic collaboration agreement with Kolon Industries Inc., a leading South Korean chemical materials manufacturer, to co-develop and commercialize more sustainable polyester materials for selected applications in Amcor's flexible packaging business. This partnership represents a step forward in advancing packaging sustainability, combining Amcor's expertise in innovative packaging with Kolon’s high-polymer manufacturing technology. The collaboration focuses on technological exploration of chemically recycled PET (crPET) and polyethylene furanoate (PEF) materials. Kolon is pioneering an advanced recycling process to produce new PET from post-consumer bottles, fibers and flexible packaging. Using crPET supports Amcor’s commitment to integrating 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials by 2030.

Tetra Pak to consolidate its Singapore-based production

Tetra Pak announced today that it will close its packaging material production in Jurong and consolidate the Singapore-based production into its other factories in the region. This shift will take place over the next 12 months and is part of the company’s continuous strategy to optimise its global manufacturing footprint, serve customers better and adapt to the changing market dynamics. The company will maintain a strong business presence in Singapore to support its global growth with core operational functions, including business management, project centres, IT, human resources, finance and marketing functions. The Tetra Pak Packaging Materials factory in Jurong started operations in 1982, supplying customers in Singapore and serving as an export base. However, with market dynamics changing significantly over the past decades, the company recognises the need to adapt in order to maintain competitiveness. Striking a delicate balance between market demands, industrial footprint optimisation, and operational cost efficiency is paramount.
