Fort Dearborn Company today announced that it has acquired Hammer Packaging Corporation. The combined organization takes advantage of Hammer’s state-of-the-art technology to enhance Fort Dearborn’s leadership position in the decorative label and packaging marketplace by further expanding the company’s geographic footprint, capacity and capabilities. With two facilities located in West Henrietta, NY and Rochester, NY, Hammer Packaging has a strong reputation for delivering innovation and quality product to a loyal and valued customer base. The combination will increase both companies’ capabilities to provide an even higher level of product and service offering to customers. The company’s product offering includes: cut & stack, in-mold, pressure sensitive, roll-fed, shrink and stretch sleeve labels as well as flexible packaging.

Italian converter AMB SpA has acquired German firm PTS (Prime Tray System) Verpackungen, a manufacturer of injection-moulded cups, bags and composite plastics films. Located in Gauting, Bavaria, PTS has been responsible for sales of the AMB product range for several years. With the purchase, AMB is keen to strengthen its market position in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. AMB operates from five locations in Europe, employs 435 people and boasts turnover of more than €160 million ($184m).

Sealed Air Corporation announced price increases ranging from five to eight percent for the majority of its Food Care division’s North American products. The increases will be effective October 2, 2017. “Sealed Air has not had a price increase for Food Care products in North America since 2014, and we are working to minimize the cost adjustments and their impact on our customers,” said Karl R. Deily, President, Sealed Air Food Care; “However, notable increases in our input costs, including a 31% rise in the price of polyethylene since 2016, make changes to our prices necessary in order to continue to deliver the same level of value and innovation to our customers.” The price changes include a five percent increase on all shrink bags, rollstock products, food films and vertical pouch packaging, as well as a six percent increase on unpadded solid plastic trays and an eight percent increase on pre-padded solid plastic trays.
