Quad reports second quarter and year-to-date 2024 results

Recent highlights
*Recognized Net Sales of $634 million in the second quarter of 2024 compared to $703 million in 2023 and realized a Net Loss of $3 million or $0.06 Diluted Loss Per Share for the second quarter of 2024.
*Achieved Non-GAAP Adjusted EBITDA of $52 million in the second quarter of 2024, increased from $50 million in the second quarter of 2023, and delivered $0.12 Adjusted Diluted Earnings Per Share for the second quarter of 2024.
*Increased Adjusted EBITDA Margin by 100 basis points to 8.2% in the second quarter of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.
*Introduced Betty, a creative agency that delivers best-in-class strategy and creative, backed by Quad’s global production resources for speed and scale.
*Launched 3D Commerce by Quad, the first commercially available automated and scalable 3D scanning solution in the North American market for creating photorealistic 3D assets.
*Expanded partnerships for In-Store Connect by Quad, the company’s in-store retail media network.
*Generated $22 million of cash proceeds from sale of minority investment in Manipal Technologies, a leading print services and end-to-end business solutions provider headquartered in India.

Second Quarter 2024 Financial Results
*Net Sales were $634 million in the second quarter of 2024, a decrease of 10% compared to the same period in 2023 primarily due to lower print volumes, a higher mix of lower unit price gravure versus offset print in our magazine and catalog offerings from segment share wins, and lower paper and agency solutions sales, including the loss of a large grocery client.
*Net Loss was $3 million in the second quarter of 2024 compared to $6 million in the same period in 2023. The improvement is primarily due to benefits from increased manufacturing productivity, savings from cost reduction initiatives and a $4 million gain on the sale of the Company’s minority investment in Manipal Technologies, partially offset by the impact from lower Net Sales.

The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) has launched a new portal on KGL PubFactory, a division of KnowledgeWorks Global Ltd. (KGL), for its two influential peer-reviewed journals, the flagship Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association (JAVMA) as well as the American Journal of Veterinary Research (AJVR). The result of a rapid, six-month migration that included the conversion of over 13,000 archive articles dating back to 2000, the new site at avmajournals.avma.org supports single-sign-on for Association members, and ecommerce through AVMA’s webshop via integration with the Aptify membership management platform. In addition to online hosting, AVMA is now using KGL content services for automated copyediting, composition, and electronic deliverables; and sister-company Sheridan for printing of the two journals.

Quad/Graphics Reports First Quarter 2018 Results

Net sales for the first quarter ended March 31, 2018, were $968 million, representing a 3.1% decrease as compared to 2017. Organic sales declined 5.1% due to ongoing print industry volume and pricing pressures after excluding acquisitions (2.0% impact), pass-through paper sales (-0.2% impact) and foreign exchange (0.2% impact), and is consistent with previous guidance. The Company incurred a net loss of $3.5 million, or $0.07 per share, for the three months ended March 31, 2018, which included a special $22 million non-cash employee stock ownership plan contribution as part of the benefit of tax reform. Net cash provided by operating activities was $2 million for the first quarter 2018, compared to $63 million in the first quarter of 2017, and Free Cash Flow decreased $62 million to a negative $22 million. These variances were primarily due to expected timing differences in 2018 versus 2017 for cash generated from working capital, which will be weighted more towards the fourth quarter. Walsworth Hires Andy Billett as New Chief Operating Officer

Walsworth announced it has hired printing industry veteran Andy Billett as the company’s new Chief Operating Officer (COO). Billett will be replacing Walsworth’s current COO Jim Mead, who is retiring from the company in November and will be based out of Walsworth’s corporate office in Marceline, Missouri. Billett comes to Walsworth with 25-plus years of printing and senior leadership experience at Taylor Corporation, Custom Ink and Jostens. Once he began to explore the opportunity to join Walsworth, he said it was a perfect match. “Meeting Don Sr., Don, and the team at Marceline made me feel at home,” said Billett. “Walsworth reminded me of my days at Taylor Corporation – genuine, honest and sincere.
