Due to suspected information security breach Metsä Board Corporation announces preliminary information on sales and profitability in the fourth quarter of 2017.
In the fourth quarter of 2017, sales were approximately EUR 451 million, comparable operating result was approximately EUR 54 million and earnings per share were approximately EUR 0.12. Figures are based on preliminary unaudited information.
Metsä Board Corporation will publish its 2017 Financial statements bulletin on 8 February 2018.

Domtar Corporation announced that President and CEO John Williams’ retirement date will be June 30, 2023. Williams has planned to leave the company after fourteen years in his leadership role; however, he will continue as a part-time advisor regarding strategic growth opportunities. Additionally, to continue Domtar’s forward momentum, Steve Henry, currently Senior Vice President of Packaging, has been appointed to the role of Executive Vice President (EVP) and Chief Operating Officer (COO) effective immediately. As EVP and COO, Henry will lead the pulp, paper and packaging operations and commercial functions at Domtar, while Williams will continue to lead all corporate functions until his retirement. “On behalf of Domtar and the Management Committee, I want to thank John for his leadership and commitment to our employees, customers and communities over the past fourteen years,” said Henry. “He joined the company during a recession and has navigated ever-changing industry dynamics and economic fluctuations to transform Domtar into the strong pulp, paper and packaging company that it is today. Domtar Corporation announced the successful acquisition of Iconex Paper from Atlas Holdings. Iconex Paper converts thermal paper parent rolls into point-of-sale (POS) receipt rolls, serving customers in industries such as food service, retail, pharmacy and financial services from its five North American locations in Arizona, Kansas, Tennessee, Virginia and Mexico. "Receipt products used by consumers every day — such as ATM, gas pump, food service and retail receipts — begin with thermal paper manufactured at Domtar's West Carrollton, Ohio, facility," says Steve Henry, Domtar's president of Paper and Packaging. "With this acquisition, we're well positioned to ensure customers experience the operational and supply chain excellence that comes from a fully integrated North American receipt paper business."
