Modern Litho Announces Ownership Transition

Modern Litho, a publication and commercial printer and mailer headquartered in Jefferson City, Missouri, with production facilities in St. Louis and Kansas City, announces the ownership group has wholly sold the company to two of the existing shareholders, Jeff and Jenny Davidson as of December 31, 2022. The event marks the successful transition of the mostly family-owned company to the third generation as part of its planned ownership succession.

Jeff and Jenny Davidson having been part of the ownership for the last five years, will continue with the same goal and vision. The Davidsons purchased the company from the ownership group which included: Darrell and Chris Moore, Greg and Becky Meeker, and Darla Moore Porter. Darrell Moore and Greg Meeker will continue working for the company in executive roles.

Expanding Applications That Drive Inkjet Page Growth

The next phase of growth for digital color printing will be using inkjet to print offset-quality images on coated stocks, at reasonable costs. The target applications are direct mail, catalogs, collateral and magazines. Digital color pages continue to grow nicely: up 15% in North America in 2016. Looking at the growth in more detail, one can readily see that the page volume growth is being driven by high-speed, continuous-feed color inkjet. Pages produced on webfed presses have been increasing at ~20% per year in recent years, double the rate of growth of cut-sheet pages, resulting in half of the total volume being inkjet output. So what’s being printed on these production inkjet web presses? The common denominator is documents on uncoated stock and that don’t require high-quality images: transactional documents, direct mail letters and books. The economics of transactional printing and direct mail letter printing now favor white paper feeding a full-color inkjet web press versus preprinted forms with mono laser overprinting. TC Transcontinental steps up and opens a vaccination centre against COVID-19 in Montréal’s Rivière-des-Prairies – Pointe-aux-Trembles borough

TC Transcontinental is proud to respond to the Québec government's call for businesses to support the health and social services network in its COVID-19 vaccination campaign. According to the order of priority established by public health, the company will offer the supervised vaccination to the local population, TC Transcontinental employees and their families starting at the end of May. The company's vaccination centre will be in Montréal’s Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles borough, given TC Transcontinental’s significant presence in the East end of Montreal. It will be located at the head office of the company’s Distribution activities at 8000 Blaise-Pascal Avenue, Rivière-des-Prairies, close to the Transcontinental Transmag (printing – Anjou), Transcontinental Recycling Montreal (packaging - Anjou) and Transcontinental Flexipak (packaging – Pointe-aux-Trembles) plants.
