Miru Smart Technologies and Mativ Collaborate to Develop Innovative Electrochromic Window Technology

Mativ and Miru have announced a joint development agreement to commercialize a novel lamination interlayer for dynamic electrochromic windows (“eWindows”). This partnership will bring together technologies to simplify the manufacturing process and lower the cost of producing eWindows for glass fabricators and automakers worldwide.

Smart window technology with on-demand tinting controls is revolutionizing the automotive industry by enhancing vehicle climate management and driver comfort. Miru’s eWindow technology is the only offering that meets growing consumer and regulatory demands for curved, neutral-color, low-haze, and energy-efficient glass. By dynamically adjusting tint levels, eWindows improve solar energy performance, reducing the need for air conditioning and heating within vehicles, and extending electric vehicle range substantially.

Ahlstrom receives a binding offer for Stenay plant from Accursia Capital

In March 2023, Ahlstrom launched a consultation process with employee representatives at its Stenay plant in France about the possibility to divest the plant, and if a buyer cannot be found considering closure. After a long process to identify potential buyers, Ahlstrom has received a binding offer from Accursia Capital to acquire the Stenay plant. The potential acquisition is subject to consultation with employee representatives. Since the beginning of the consultation period, finding a buyer has been Ahlstrom’s priority. The group has been working actively with all the local economic and political stakeholders in the area to support the process of finding a buyer. With a strong commitment to achieving a positive outcome for all parties involved, Ahlstrom would be dedicated to making every effort during the transition to ensure the plant successfully enters its new chapter.

GreenFirst adding more than 45 High-Skilled Jobs at its Kapuskasing Paper Mill

GreenFirst Forest Products Inc. is pleased to announce plans to restart the second paper machine at its Kapuskasing Paper Mill. GreenFirst has received over $1.2 million from the Skills Development Fund of the Government of Ontario, Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development to support the recruiting, hiring, and training of more than 45 new employees. On August 28, 2021, GreenFirst acquired the Kapuskasing Paper Mill from Rayonier Advanced Materials, which was only operating one paper machine at the time. GreenFirst will begin to restart the second paper machine in May, thereby increasing direct employment to almost 300 jobs in Kapuskasing and surrounding areas, these positions welcome youth, women and Indigenous applicants. The restart will occur in multiple phases starting in May, with the goal of full production (7 days – 24 hours operation) by October 2022.
