LiveEO and PEFC announce partnership for EUDR compliance

The two organisations have combined their expertise in satellite analytics and modular chain of custody to devise a program that guides PEFC-certified companies to EUDR compliance using a customised version of LiveEO’s EUDR platform, TradeAware. Companies can sign up today to join the program and start their compliance journey.

As one of the pioneering partnerships tackling EUDR compliance, LiveEO and PEFC are establishing a new standard for innovative and reliable EUDR solutions for timber and tree-based products. By enhancing transparency in supply chains, affected companies significantly reduce the risk of illegal activities, supply chain disruptions, and non-compliance.

Companies signed up for the program will be guided through key preparatory steps, including collecting geolocations and onboarding suppliers to the TradeAware platform, to ensure compliance readiness well ahead of the deadline.

As part of the partnership, LiveEO develops a customised version of its EUDR platform TradeAware, that is specifically tailored to the needs of PEFC-certified organisations.

Irving Pulp & Paper seeking community feedback on new environmental project

Irving Pulp & Paper, Limited will invest over $150 million in environmental improvements at the Saint John mill. “The construction of this new on-site facility using world class technology will help us continue to achieve our long-term environmental objectives by substantially improving water quality while reducing water consumption by up to 50 percent,” said Mark Mosher, Vice President of Pulp & Paper. “We have been operating at the west side location since 1946, so we value the feedback of our neighbours in the community and we look forward to hearing from them through this process.” This project will modernize the current water treatment being done in the mill to remove, re-use and recycle materials created during the pulping process which need to be treated in an environmentally friendly manner. It will also help Irving Pulp & Paper to comply with a new enforcement approach to federal regulations and reduce the water currently being sourced from Spruce Lake by up to 50 percent.

Clearwater Paper Announces Revised Multi-Year Sustainability Goals and Continued Commitment to Progress in 2022 ESG Report

Clearwater Paper Corporation released its 2022 environmental, social and governance (ESG) report. Along with a continued commitment to create sustainable paper products, the report also highlights a significant increase in company-wide priorities to meet several key sustainability benchmarks. These include emissions reductions, resource conservation and company representation, among others as part of revised, multi-year goals. In this year’s report, Clearwater Paper states their plans to achieve a 30% reduction of Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2030; achieve female representation of 30% or greater of their salaried workforce through 2030; and include ESG targets, goals, and outcomes in executive compensation.
