Kohler Paper Presents New Line at FachPack 2024

Koehler Paper has launched a new high-quality product range specially for tea packaging, offering the perfect solution to high demand for organic tea and sustainable packaging alternatives on the tea market.

The different types of flexible packaging paper cover a broad range of requirements—from good knurling and heat-sealing properties with or without a barrier function, for instance for high aroma pro-tection, to teabag wrapping and flow packs. Koehler Paper is showcasing the range at the Fachpack trade fair in Nuremberg from September 24–26, 2024 at stand 310 in Hall 3a.

“Our flexible packaging paper has a lot of advantages: It is recyclable, offers top product protection, complies with food standards, and is highly compatible with tea packaging machines, offering the same efficiency and speed as plastic film,” explains Christoph Wachter, Director of Flexible Packaging Paper at Koehler Paper.

Smurfit Kappa agrees to acquire state of the art 600,000 tonne recycled containerboard mill

Smurfit Kappa Group plc agrees to acquire Verzuolo, a containerboard business in Northern Italy, for a cash consideration of €360 million. The Verzuolo mill owned by the Burgo Group, is situated close to the port of Savona in the northwest of Italy. The PM9 machine was newly constructed in 2002 and converted into a 600,000 tonne capacity recycled containerboard machine in 2019. Verzuolo is highly complementary to SKG’s existing business and is strategically positioned to serve both the Southern European region and other markets ensuring we continue to provide the best service to our corrugated customers. The acquisition will deliver significant synergistic benefits including technical and production optimisation, and increased containerboard integration within the Group. The cash consideration will be funded from the Group’s existing resources. It is expected that the acquisition will complete during the fourth quarter, subject to customary closing conditions including regulatory approval.

Sonoco FRESH (Food Research Excellence for Safety and Health), a Sonoco and Clemson University initiative to develop new technologies and new forms of packaging to optimize the fresh food lifecycle, is pleased to host a series of events focused on innovations in packaging.
