In an era where digital solutions are seen as inherently sustainable, the print, paper and paper-based packaging industries play a crucial role in shaping environmentally friendly practices. Two Sides North America is at the forefront of this movement and plays a unique role as an industry advocate while directly taking on other corporations and industries that use greenwashing to spread misinformation about the environmental impact of paper products.

Two Sides North America (TSNA) is part of the non-profit Two Sides Global network that includes more than 600 members in North America, South America, Europe, Australia, and South Africa. Our membership includes companies and industry-allied organizations, both large and small, from across the entire value chain.

TSNA research, outreach, and ongoing work are 100% funded by membership dues. Members of TSNA gain access to a wealth of resources while providing valuable tools and research to help keep the industry informed and able to address misguided environmental concerns about print and paper use in North America.

Consumers making a fashion statement when it comes to sustainability

A new survey conducted by global packaging leader Smurfit Kappa has revealed that consumers are making a statement by demanding more sustainable packaging from brands before making online fashion purchases. The survey, which was conducted with consumers across four European countries, found 41% of online fashion shoppers have become more eco-conscious when buying the latest fashion online since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. The research, which surveyed consumers in Germany, Ireland, The Netherlands and the UK, found nearly half of consumers purchase fashion items online once a month or more, reflecting its increasing popularity among both female (44%) and male (43%) shoppers. The research found: >23% of fashion consumers have researched a brand online to assess its level of sustainability >35% of fashion consumers stated they would not make an online purchase from a fashion company if they discovered its packaging wasn't eco-friendly >23% of those surveyed have re-purchased from a fashion brand based on its sustainability credentials

PEFC Group Certification Dialogue Webinar Series: Knowledge sharing amongst members and industry stakeholders

Smallholders, local communities, and indigenous peoples own or manage nearly half of the world’s forests and the way those forests are managed can have an influence on the climate, biodiversity, and health of our planet. It is therefore vital that smallholders can gain certification, not only to benefit from the advantages it brings to their livelihoods, but to ensure that these forests are responsibly managed so they are around for generations to come. To achieve this, we must make sustainable forest management certification accessible to these smallholders. This is where PEFC group certification comes in, enabling smallholders to group together and organize themselves, pool their resources and work as a team to achieve certification. Since 2010, our Smallholder Group Certification programme has enabled the sharing of experiences and facilitated cooperation amongst family forest owners, community forest groups, and indigenous peoples in implementing sustainable forest management and pursuing forest certification.
