IRIS Bio and Koehler Paper Offer Recyclable Packaging Alternative

Together with Italian pasta company Astrabio, Koehler Paper has now packed pasta in one of its flexible packaging paper for the first time ever. “Koehler NexPlus® Seal Pure,” a heat-sealable paper, maximizes shelf life, protects the product inside it, and features extraordinary strength properties that make it perfect for further processing on standard packaging machines.

The brand IRIS Bio stands for high-quality food and a sustainable agricultural model. Koehler Paper accordingly offers a sustainable packaging alternative with its flexible packaging paper. “With ‘Koehler NexPlus® Seal Pure,’ we offer a packaging paper with a significantly reduced carbon footprint in comparison to conventional plastic packaging, not to mention that it also boasts the significant benefit of being recyclable and conserving valuable resources as a result,” says Mauro Moretti, Flexible Packaging Paper Sales Manager at Koehler Italia, while going over this new application for the paper. UK food market first as Mondi launches new recyclable paper-based packaging with Veetee

Mondi is bringing paper-packed dry rice to the UK for the first time, by collaborating with award-winning rice supplier Veetee. Veetee’s new rice packaging has been created using Mondi’s FunctionalBarrier Paper, providing a safe, secure and strong alternative to the industry standard plastic packs. Veetee and Mondi are the first in the UK to launch a paper-based alternative for dry rice, customised in direct response to consumer demands for more sustainable packaging. Mondi uses its customer-centric approach to evaluate the needs of the product, customer and consumer to deliver a fit-for-purpose solution - using paper where possible and plastic when useful. The company provided a full in-house solution for Veetee - sourcing certified renewable material, producing the certified kraft paper, add barrier functionality and printing it before delivering the final paper-based reels to Veetee for conversion and filling.

Kimberly-Clark Announces First Quarter 2023 Results

First quarter sales of $5.2 billion increased 2 percent, with organic sales up 5 percent, driven by a 10 percent increase in price and favorable product mix from ongoing revenue growth management programs offset by a 5 percent decrease in volume. In North America, sales increased 5 percent over last year, including increases of 2 percent in Personal Care, 5 percent in Consumer Tissue and 12 percent in K-C Professional. Outside North America, organic sales were up 4 percent in developing and emerging (D&E) markets and 10 percent in developed markets (Australia, South Korea and Western/Central Europe). Gross margin improved by 340 basis points to 33.2 percent, with higher net revenue realization and cost savings offsetting higher input costs of $160 million. First quarter operating profit was $787 million compared to $693 million last year, resulting in an operating margin of 15.1 percent, an increase of 150 basis points.
