Total European shipments of graphic papers in February 2021 were down 14.1% vs. February 2020 and are down 18.3% year-to-date.
Total European shipments of newsprint in February 2021 were down 20.2% vs. February 2020 and are down 21.6% year-to-date.
Total European shipments of sc-magazine in February 2021 were down 15.8% vs. February 2020 and are down 21.3% year-to-date.
Total European shipments of coated mechanical reels in February 2021 were down 15.3% vs. February 2020 and are down 20.5% year-to-date.
Total European shipments of uncoated mechanical (improved & others) in February 2021 were UP 2.5% vs. February 2020 and are down 9.4% year-to-date.
Total European shipments of coated woodfree in February 2021 were down 19.3% vs. February 2020 and are down 23.5% year-to-date.
Total European shipments of uncoated woodfree in February 2021 were down 8.2% vs. February 2020 and are down 11.7% year-to-date.

UPM Raflatac completes the acquisition of AMC AG

UPM Raflatac has completed the acquisition of AMC AG (Advanced Methods of Coating). The acquisition announced in May 2022 was closed on 15 September 2022 after regulatory clearances. AMC AG employs more than 300 people and has two production sites in Northern Germany, in Kaltenkirchen and in Hagenow. UPM Raflatac expects to realize significant synergies through the acquisition. By joining forces with AMC AG UPM Raflatac will accelerate its growth and expand its product portfolio. New product areas include Viscom/Graphics materials which are currently sold under the Intercoat brand, and removable self-adhesive stationary products under the brand names Global Notes and Print Inform. Furthermore, the transaction will strengthen UPM Raflatac’s position in Central Europe.

New Sherbrooke Plant Doubles its Tissue Paper Capacity

KP Tissue Inc. and Kruger Products L.P. announced KPLP’s plan to add to the capacity of its Sherbrooke expansion project by constructing a double width Light Dry Crepe (LDC) tissue machine with a capacity of at least 60,000 MT instead of the previously announced 30,000 MT LDC tissue machine. This additional capacity will allow us to accelerate the growth of our business and continue to provide our customers across North America with high quality tissue products like Cashmere®, SpongeTowels®, Scotties® and Purex® in Canada and White Cloud® in the U.S., said Dino Bianco, CEO with KPLP.
