Edit’s Sarah Burns appointed as Deputy Chair of the DMA Print Council
The DMA Print Council has selected Sarah Burns, Head of Media Solutions at Edit, as its new Deputy Chair. It’s the second consecutive appointment to Deputy Chair that the UK’s leading intelligence body for print media has made from Edit.
Burns enters the role with 10 years of experience in print media and a strong focus on creating sustainable print marketing.
Speaking about Burns’s appointment, Chair of the DMA Print Council Alistair Ezzy said: “I am pleased to announce that Sarah Burns has joined the Print Council as Deputy Chair. Sarah will bring with her a wealth of knowledge in addition to her unbridled enthusiasm. I am looking forward to working with Sarah and putting the print channels back on the agenda by demonstrating their effectiveness, engagement and ability to integrate with other media.”
Print marketing has seen increased engagement since the UK first went into lockdown in March, with younger audiences spending more time at home. JICMail’s Q2 data release found that interactions with door drops and direct mail had markedly increased during lockdown. This is a pattern that is expected to continue into next year as restrictions continue.
Over 2020, Edit has been highly involved in initiatives including crEdit to make print media more affordable to charities as budgets are stretched. The business has also become a member of Two Sides and is working with World Land Trust to create more sustainable print media.
Following her appointment, Burns said: “I am honoured to have been appointed Deputy Chair of the Print Council. My passion for Print has only grown since I started in the industry 10 years ago with the ever changing media landscape, possibilities in print including tech integration and of course the sustainability of printed media and how we can create a force for good from this crucial communication channel. Through my work with Alistair and the rest of the Print Council, we want to lead the way for innovative and exciting print within the industry and hopefully inspire the next generation of print marketers.”
Edit Media Director Ben Briggs adds: “I couldn’t think of anyone better to hand the Deputy Chair position to than Sarah. Since joining Edit 6 months ago, she’s proved that she’s one of the best print planners in the country. She’s helped us to win multiple new clients and expand our print proposition focusing on sustainability through our partnerships with Two Sides UK and World Land Trust. I can’t wait to see Sarah transfer the same enthusiasm at an industry level and really make a difference to the future of print marketing.”
