Earth Day 2019: HP Is Reinventing ‘Reuse’ and Creating Environmental, Social Impact

In celebration of Earth Day 2019, HP is announcing major milestones:

Sustainability is the new workplace standard: A global, 20,000-participant survey released by HP found that 61 percent of workers believe sustainability is mandatory for businesses. It also found that employees are more productive, motivated and engaged when working for an employer who is leading the charge in social responsibility.

$2 million investment to expand HP’s ocean-bound plastic supply chain. The company will build a new PET and HDPE bottle washing line in Haiti that will allow it to produce cleaner, higher quality recycled plastic locally for use in HP products.

HP partners with NGO Work to build two new learning centers, equipped with HP laptops and printers that use cartridges made from locally collected plastics, enabling children to receive a quality education at the collection sites while their parents work nearby.

Suspension of PEFC Russia extended

The PEFC International Board has extended the suspension of the Russian National Voluntary Forest Certification System (FCR), with the national system now suspended indefinitely. The suspension was intended to preserve the conditions for a successful long-term cooperation with PEFC Russia to support sustainable forest management in the Russian Federation in light of the current political situation. The suspension took effect as of 11 August 2022 and was initially valid until 31 December 2022.

AF&PA Wins Telly Award for Improving Paper Recycling Video

The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) won a 36th Annual Bronze Telly Award for its Improving Paper Recycling video. The video promotes increased quantity and quality of paper and paper-based packaging recovered for recycling. The annual Telly Awards program honors excellence in broadcast and online video content. The award-winning video, which was recognized specifically for its green and eco-friendly messaging, is available at http://www.paperrecycles.org/. “AF&PA is honored to receive a Bronze Telly for our Improving Paper Recycling video, which is part of our ongoing effort to increase paper recycling nationwide,” said AF&PA President and CEO Donna Harman. The video was developed by Leading Authorities, Inc.
