Dickinson Press, Kingsport Book Launch New Short-Run Four-Color Printing Facility

Kingsport Book LLC is excited to announce the launch of its newly built Kingsport Book Commercial. Kingsport Book Commercial was built with the goal of being able to offer the most competitive, short-run four-color book and commercial printing solution available in the industry. Phase 1 of this multi-million expansion continues to build on the goals established by PCC (Printer Consolidation Co.), a Blackford Capital portfolio company to build a world-class company focused on the ever-changing needs of the book printing industry.

Kingsport Book, located in Church Hill, Tenn., has developed a strong reputation as a high-end book finishing and fulfillment company. To complement the deluxe bindery operation, a sister company has been built to service short-run offset and digital printing needs as well as to support the surrounding areas with the most advanced equipment available. In the expanded 135,000-sq.-ft. facility, a 10-color Komori perfecting press has been installed along with finishing, prepress and digital equipment.

“The addition of Kingsport Book Commercial is in direct response to the needs of our customers, as we see an ever-growing demand for children’s books, four-color short-run trade books and four color religious books,” said Aaron Day, CEO of PCC.

RRD Enters into Definitive Agreement to Sell its DLS Worldwide Logistics Business to TFI International for $225 Million Cash

R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to sell its DLS Worldwide Logistics business to TFI International for $225 million in cash, subject to a customary working capital adjustment. The agreement stipulates 10 percent of the purchase price will be held in escrow while the remainder will be paid at closing. The transaction does not include RRD’s International Mail and Parcel Logistics business and is expected to close within the next 60 days pending regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions. Carbon Balanced Program in North America Certifies their First Printer

The North American Carbon Balanced Printer program is proud to announce that it has signed its first partner printer. Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, Hudson Printing has joined the Carbon Balanced Printer program to further reduce its impact on the environment, as well as the impact of its customers. The Carbon Balanced Printer program offers its partner printers the opportunity to carbon balance their paper and print services. Members of the program are printers that have measured their own carbon footprint, then offset those emissions with the global conservation group World Land Trust to become a certified Carbon Balanced Printer. World Land Trust uses funds raised through the program to protect and restore threatened natural habitats in Vietnam, Mexico, Ecuador and Guatemala. By protecting these areas of high biodiversity and the species within them, World Land Trust preserves important ecosystems while preventing the release of CO2 into the atmosphere through deforestation and degradation. The amount of carbon offset by Hudson is equivalent to the preservation of 834,013 m2 of land, or the area covered by 156 NFL football fields.
