Clearwater Paper Reports Updated Fourth Quarter Guidance

Featuring a converter friendly balance of high initial tack and low edge bleed, Mactac® announces the launch of a new durable labeling product line, LINTEC® Low-Ooze, High Adhesion Durable Labelstocks. The new LINTEC Low-Ooze, High Adhesion Durable Labelstocks feature a selection of durable film facestocks paired with LINTEC’s industry-proven PAT1 and automotive-approved P0066 aggressive acrylic adhesives. The labelstocks are intended for use in labeling durable goods, electronics, appliances, warning and instruction labeling, and automotive and medical labeling applications. With product features that are highly appealing to industry converters, Mactac’s LINTEC Low-Ooze, High Adhesion Durable Labelstocks offer cleaner on-press and thermal transfer print performance, as well as reduced risk of label pick-off. They are suitable for prolonged outdoor use and ensure very good resistance to chemicals, heat (durability up to 302-degrees Fahrenheit), and UV (ultraviolet) light. Additionally, the labelstocks are UL 969 recognized by Underwriters Laboratories for superior performance, label suitability, and compliance for displaying required safety information on UL Certified products, despite long-term exposure to a variety of environmental elements.

UPM and the US-based pulp and paper producer Domtar Paper Company LLC have signed an agreement for UPM to acquire the total annual kraft lignin production of Domtar’s Plymouth Mill in North Carolina, USA as of January 2021. This step enables UPM to expand its role in the growing lignin business and different application segments. Following the agreement, UPM will increase its supply of kraft lignin by more than 20.000 metric tonnes annually. Part of the supply will be used to complement the existing UPM BioPivaTM product family. UPM lignin products will be sold globally through UPM’s sales network and are supported by strong technical expertise. “We are very pleased to have agreed this new supply agreement with Domtar. It enables us to expand our lignin business in the growing biochemicals market before the start-up of our Biorefinery in Leuna, Germany,” says Juuso Konttinen, Vice President, UPM Biochemicals.

Metsä Tissue, the tissue paper business of the forest industry group Metsä Group, is planning to invest in a new tissue mill in the UK. The plan consists of 240 000 tons of tissue paper production capacity, built in several phases during the upcoming decade. The plans are part of the company’s Future Mill programme to drive world class environmental performance in tissue production. The production of the planned UK mill would be based on using sustainable fresh fibre pulp, and the first phase of the investment would be ready during 2025 to serve the professional and consumer tissue markets in the UK and Ireland.
