Clean Power from the Finnish Forests

In our most recent EcoVadis sustainability assessment, we achieved ‘Platinum’ rating, which places us in the top 1% of companies assessed by EcoVadis globally . Notably, we scored 90% for our performance in sustainable procurement, with praise for our Supplier Engagement programme and FSC chain of custody certification, and 80% on environmental issues, with praise for “exceptional” reporting on environmental issues. We placed in the top 2% in our industry overall.

Students from area schools will join together to recognize Earth Day by picking up trash, litter and garbage to make area communities cleaner. For the past seven years, BPM has donated garbage bags and gloves for area students. Schools and organizations which have volunteered to clean up surrounding areas of school grounds and communities include Central Elementary, Coleman Elementary and Middle, Lena Public, M&M Love Where You Live Volunteers, Marinette Middle and High, Merryman Elementary, Oconto Falls Elementary, Oconto Middle, Park Elementary, Peshtigo Elementary and Middle High, St. Thomas Aquinas Academy and Suring Public. Stora Enso and Helsinki Olympic Stadium have signed a partnership agreement to develop low-carbon, eco-friendly operations at the stadium by promoting the use of renewable materials and circular economy solutions. Stora Enso explores reusing products as well as recycling used materials to give high-quality wood fibers a second life in new products that will be available at the stadium for different services and operations. Stora Enso and Helsinki Olympic Stadium share the aim of promoting the use of renewable materials in customer and food service packaging to reduce the climate impact of stadium operations. In addition, the aim is to ensure that materials get recycled to a high degree. Packaging made of renewable materials has a high recycling rate throughout Europe and it typically has a low carbon footprint that is further reduced when recycled.
