Celebrating the Unique Culture at our Hialeah Tissue Mill

All of our Domtar facilities embody our corporate culture, but each has its own unique personality, crafted year after year by the people who work there and influenced by the communities where they live, work and play. Our Hialeah Tissue Mill in Hialeah, Florida, is no exception.

The mill is one of the few fully integrated tissue manufacturers in North America. It produces virgin and recycled tissue products in a variety of grades for the at-home and away-from-home markets. The mill boasts a number of environmental certifications and has achieved several safety milestones, most recently in 2024 when it reached 1,000,000 hours without a recordable injury.

Kotkamills’ board is a consumer packaging win for Starcke and PackageMedia

Finnish packaging manufacturers PackageMedia and Starcke have been awarded for their innovative products packaged in Kotkamills’ board material. Designed by PackageMedia, the Fazer Domino campaign packaging has received a ScanStar Award. The primary judging criteria of the pan-Nordic packaging competition, organised by the Scandinavian Packaging Association, were innovativeness of the idea, protective properties of the packaging, price, design, and user and environmental friendliness. The awarded Domino campaign skilfully used appealing images submitted by consumers. To delight consumers, digital technology was used to print a total of 1,200 different images on cookie packages made from Kotkamills’ AEGLE® Pro board. The good printability and excellent stiffness of AEGLE® Pro ensured the high-end result.

Coming to Your Doorstep: Recycled Containerboard from Kingsport Mill

E-commerce has forever changed the way people shop, and now recycled containerboard will change the way products are delivered. While online shopping is always popular during the holiday season, it has increased even more this year, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. With millions opting to avoid in-person shopping, research firm Forrester expects that online retail sales will grow 24 percent in the United States this holiday season, compared to a year ago. At the same time, shoppers are seeking responsibly packaged products. A report on 2020 U.S. packaging preferences from Two Sides North America Inc. showed consumers prefer paper-based packaging for its environmental attributes, such as recyclability and composability, as well as practical factors like ease of storage.
