Canfor acquires additional shares in Vida

Solenis, a leading global producer of specialty chemicals, will implement a price increase by up to 30 percent on all utility, process and functional product lines across the EMEA region, effective December 1 or as customer contracts allow. The price increase is necessary due to the tightening of raw material supply globally and escalating energy, packaging and transportation costs.

Neenah announces the release of DISPERSA (TM) Dissolvable Paper, a water-soluble paper that dissolves completely and rapidly in water. DISPERSA (TM) Dissolvable Paper addresses key market needs dictated by an increased focus on environmental awareness, industrial and consumer safety, and convenience. It is 100% dispersible in water in seconds or minutes, depending on conditions, and suitable for flexographic, laser, and inkjet printing technologies. The paper has unique dry strength properties that allows it to withstand the converting processes, but still dissolves when exposed to water. Applications include food rotation labels for reusable food containers in commercial kitchens and heat sealable pouches for safer handling of hazardous substances. DISPERSA (TM) Dissolvable Paper will be manufactured in the USA.

The pulp market registered another favorable performance during the second quarter of 2024, which reflected in another round of price increase implementations and in sales growth, despite a challenging scenario that emerged in China. The quarter was also marked by the appreciation of the average USD against the average BRL during the period, contributing to an increase in net revenue. Additionally, operational performance remained in line with the plan, with cash cost of production (excluding the effect of scheduled maintenance downtimes) marginally higher than in the previous quarter. This combination of factors resulted in a significant increase in adjusted EBITDA from pulp compared to both 1Q24 (+42%) and the same period of the previous year (+74%). At the paper business unit, sales volume increased chiefly due to seasonality, while prices remained practically stable (+1%). As such, consolidated adjusted EBITDA in the quarter totaled R$6.3 billion, while operating cash flow reached R$4.5 billion.
