Koehler Paper works together with CLARUS Films GmbH in the small roll business and as a service partner for the converting industry for flexible packaging papers Europe-wide. This partnership will especially play out in the area of functionally coated, unprinted barrier paper. Koehler Paper and Clarus will have their first joint appearance at Europe’s biggest packaging, technology, and processing trade show – Fachpack – in Nuremberg, Germany, from September 28 through September 30, 2021 at booth 119, Hall 4. Koehler and CLARUS are linked not only in terms of their location in Germany, but also in terms of how both have made it their mission to provide their customers with top-quality solutions. This partnership combines the know-how from the traditional world of paper with the know-how from the flexible packaging market.

Net sales for the third quarter were a record $1.32 billion, an increase of $115.9 million, or 9.6 percent, from last year’s quarter. The improvement in sales was a result of higher selling prices, largely driven by rising raw material prices; sales added from acquisitions, net of divestitures; and the positive impact of foreign exchange. Gross profits were a record $250.9 million in the third quarter, an increase of $15.5 million or 6.6 percent, compared with $235.4 million in the same period in 2016. Gross profit as a percentage of sales declined to 18.9 percent, compared with 19.5 percent in the same period in 2016. The gross profit percentage reduction was primarily due to higher raw material and other operating costs offset by manufacturing and procurement productivity. Third-quarter selling, general and administrative expenses increased $8.7 million from the prior year to $130.3 million. This increase was driven by wage inflation and acquisition-related expenses. Net sales were $1.8 billion in the second quarter of 2022, up from $1.7 billion in the prior year quarter. Unfavorable foreign currency translation impacted sales by $95 million and $11 million of lower sales was due to divestitures. Higher average selling prices contributed $208 million to sales. Shipments (in tons, excluding divestitures) improved approximately one percent while sales declined $1 million due to the net effect of higher sales volume and a slightly unfavorable change in mix. Other sales improved $17 million driven by higher machine part sales. Segment operating profit was $257 million in the second quarter of 2022 compared to $232 million in the prior year quarter.
