Amcor launches enhanced heat seal coating healthcare packaging solution

Amcor today introduced ACT2100™ heat seal coating for medical grade DuPont™ Tyvek®2 and paper packaging applications. This next generation coating technology delivers enhanced performance features for healthcare applications and will be produced in multiple locations worldwide to offer customers increased flexibility to be supplied from the most suitable location for the manufacturing and packaging of their devices.

Customers choosing ACT2100 will benefit from the solution’s broader seal range in combination with numerous materials, allowing for a wider operating window in their manufacturing operations, as well as enhanced seal strength for more robust package integrity through distribution.

Consumers will enjoy speedier ethylene oxide sterilization cycles thanks to the material’s improved porosity, a fiber-free peel, and a bright, white adhesive that does not yellow. In addition, documentation and data will be available to support healthcare packaging regulatory requirements in all regulated markets.

The ACT2100 heat seal adhesive will be added to Amcor’s existing portfolio of well-known, high-performance Tyvek adhesives including CR27® and SBP2000® heat seal coatings. This allows our customers to choose to leverage traditional validations with legacy products or use ACT2100 for newer requirements.

Koehler Paper Flexible Packaging Paper Wins 2025 PAP’AWARD

“Koehler NexPlus® Seal Pure” flexible packaging paper from Koehler Paper was awarded a 2025 PAP’AWARD in the Circular Economy category at the “La Nuit du Papier” event in Paris in April. Fazer’s chocolate Christmas calendar reduces plastic use

Fazer is launching a chocolate Christmas calendar made from lightweight and recyclable dispersion coated paperboard from Metsä Board, part of Metsä Group. The choice of material will reduce plastic use by 1,200 kg per year compared to the PE coated board used previously and will also improve recycling of the calendar. The wood fibre used in Fazer's Christmas calendar can be fully recycled. The lightweight paperboard used in the calendar supports the circular economy and reduces waste. Thanks to the lightweight and resource-efficient design, the carbon footprint of the calendar carton is also one quarter lower than the previous one. "Climate change mitigation and the circular economy are important themes for Fazer." says Piia Soininen-Tengvall, Packaging Development Director at Fazer. "Chocolate calendars need a layer to protect the chocolate, which is usually plastic. This year we are replacing the PE coated material with recyclable Metsä Board paperboard."

Sonoco develops revolutionary rain-resistant adhesive and sealant cartridge

Sonoco has leveraged its world-class RainGuard® technology, previously applied to its Sonotube® forms, to develop a new paper cartridge for adhesives, caulks and sealants designed to withstand inclement weather on construction sites. The cartridge can be used for traditional adhesives and sealants packaged in barrier fiber cartridges, and is now available for the entire adhesives and sealants market. “This cartridge was developed in response to customer feedback – we learned that people needed an all-weather solution for construction sites, especially for large, ongoing projects,” said William Long, division sales manager, Adhesives and Sealants, Sonoco. “This new cartridge is still gunnable after exposure to wet conditions, meaning that construction workers don’t need to pack up every time it rains.” Click Read More below for additional detail.
