Allied Media Triples Output with New Speedmaster CX 104 from HEIDELBERG

Allied Media, a small, family-owned company located in Fenton, Michigan, recently installed a new Speedmaster CX 104 from HEIDELBERG. The CX 104 is the first new press for Allied, who has historically invested in used presses. In just a few months, the press has significantly improved the company’s production metrics and increased throughput three-fold.

Quad Divests Its QuadExpress 3PL Logistics Business

Quad/Graphics, Inc. announced that it has sold its QuadExpress third-party logistics (3PL) business for $40 million to Mullen Group Ltd., one of Canada’s largest logistics providers. QuadExpress joins Mullen Group’s network of independently operated businesses that provide a broad range of service offerings including less-than-truckload, truckload, warehousing, logistics, transload, oversized and specialized hauling transportation. The divestiture supports Quad’s established strategy to optimize its product and service portfolio and invest in those parts of its business that accelerate its position as a marketing solutions partner and create more value for its clients and other stakeholders. Quad continues to own and operate its in-house transportation and logistics division, Quad Transportation Services, and its trucking division, Duplainville Transport.

GPO Report: Agency Bid Out $340M to Private Sector in Fiscal Year 2017

The U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) releases its Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2017. In it, Acting Director Jim Bradley reports another year of positive financial results for the agency. GPO’s operations recorded positive net income of $38.3 million for the year. Total revenues for the year equaled $874.3 million. “From the materials used in the Presidential inauguration to the digitization of the entire Congressional Record and our vigorous digital programs, GPO upheld its commitment to serve as the Federal Government’s publisher in FY 2017,” said Acting Director Jim Bradley. “Our positive financial results will allow us to keep pushing our program of modernization forward.
