Northern Pulp provides an update on CCAA process

Northern Pulp Nova Scotia announced that the British Columbia Supreme Court (the “Court”) has approved the requests made by Northern Pulp to, among other things, extend the protection under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (the “CCAA”) to October 31, 2021. The Court has also approved the amendment of the interim financing milestones under the interim financing facility to coincide with the Stay Extension and approved an additional draw of $6.0 million to meet obligations during the extended timeframe. Throughout the Stay Extension, Northern Pulp will continue to manage and maintain the mill and advance plans to transform its operations.

Avery Dennison Acquires ACPO Ltd.

Avery Dennison announced that it has acquired the business of Ohio-based ACPO Ltd. for the purchase price of $87.6 million, subject to certain post-closing adjustments. ACPO is a leader in pressure-sensitive overlaminate products for the label and flexible packaging markets and has approximately 170 employees. Avery Dennison has acquired the majority of ACPO’s assets, including coating, finishing and distribution operations at its Oak Harbor, Ohio, headquarters, as well as three finishing and distribution sites in Atlanta, Georgia; Oak Creek, Wisconsin; and Vancouver, Washington. ACPO employees will transition to the Avery Dennison Label and Graphic Materials team.

Koehler Invests in ECBF

The Koehler group is investing in the European Circular Bioeconomy Fund (ECBF) with the aim of actively fostering the development of sustainable innovations and technologies. The ECBF is the first growth investment fund to be dedicated exclusively to projects in the field of the bioeconomy in Europe, including the accompanying circular economy. With a targeted fund size of EUR 250 million, the ECBF is set to become an important international financial instrument and to contribute to making Europe climate-neutral by 2050. The circular economy conserves natural resources, and is one of the prerequisites for reaching the EU’s climate objectives in order to become climate-neutral by 2050. The Koehler Group is currently working on a range of innovations with a focus on circular economy concepts. “When developing innovations, we not only make use of internal expertise, but also rely on collaborations and start-ups. Our involvement in the ECBF will hopefully help to ensure that targeted funding is provided for promising technological developments,” Dr. Karrer continues. This not only pertains to technologies for Koehler Paper, but also to a range of other activities and business models within the Koehler Group.
