AAP July 2024 StatShot Report: Overall Publishing Industry Up 18.1% for Month of July, and Up 7.6% Year-To-Date

Walmart Inc. announces second quarter results with strong growth in revenue and operating income. Globally, eCommerce penetration is higher across all segments. Walmart U.S. comp sales up 4.2%2 . Looking ahead, the Company issues guidance for Q3 and raises its outlook for FY25. For Q3, net sales are expected to grow 3.25% to 4.25% and operating income to grow 3.0% to 4.5% in constant currency (“cc”)1 . For FY25, net sales are expected to grow 3.75% to 4.75% and adjusted operating income to grow 6.5% to 8.0% cc.

For the quarter, on a GAAP basis, total revenue decreased 4.2% to $890.4 million, revenue from retail store sales decreased 6.7% to $601.7 million, Internet and catalog sales decreased 3.9% to $135.7 million, and Financial Services revenue increased 9.0% to $147.2 million. For the quarter, comparable store sales decreased 9.3%.

REI released its 2022 Impact Report and financials results, closing the year with a record $3.85 billion in sales. We remain focused on a path back to sustainable profitability for the co-op to ensure a healthy long-term future.” In 2022, REI focused on investing in the employee experience. Often cited as a top place to work, the co-op remained committed to competitive pay and introduced new industry-leading benefits. In 2022, REI put an additional $50 million toward pay raises for hourly employees and delivered another $92 million toward employee retirement and bonuses.
