Three magazines were earned Pulitzer Prize winners Monday afternoon as part of the 102nd class of honorees, the fourth since the nation’s top journalism honors were first expanded to include glossies in addition to newspapers. The New Yorker‘s Ronan Farrow—whose reporting on Harvey Weinstein’s history of sexual assault and cover-ups were integral to the subsequent national discourse around the #MeToo movement—shared honors in the Public Service category with New York Times reporters Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey. Magazines have successfully extended across digital platforms, and all expressions of our brands are consistent or improving in terms of audience numbers. At the same time, the brand has seen an increase in its overall audience, with robust traffic online and millions of social media followers across platforms. All boats are lifted. U.S. book publishing’s biggest trade show is being “retired,” show organizer ReedPop announced today. BookExpo, along with BookCon and Unbound, will not be held in 2021 after being canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic. ReedPop, the pop culture event–focused subdivision of Reed Exhibitions, said that, given the “continued uncertainty surrounding in-person events at this time,” the company has decided “that the best way forward is to retire the current iteration of events as they explore new ways to meet the community’s needs through a fusion of in-person and virtual events.”
