Pregis Achieves Significant Milestones in 2023 Sustainability Report

Pregis®, a leading global manufacturer of protective packaging, mailing and bagging, and flexible packaging solutions, published its 2023 Sustainability Report highlighting its commitment to minimizing environmental impacts. The report details actions and results achieved in 2023, significantly advancing the company’s progress toward its 2K30 objectives. These goals are an extension of the Pregis Purpose to Protect, Preserve and Inspyre, which serve as the cornerstones of the company’s value system.

Here are a few highlights from the 2023 Report:
*Achieved 51% of revenues from products that are paper-based, bio-based, or made from a minimum of 30% recycled content
*Achieved an 86% reduction in operational emissions intensity (scopes 1 and 2), surpassing the 25% reduction goal seven years ahead of schedule
*Diverted 91% of its waste from landfill and incineration
*Saved 748,806 trees from harvest through the Pregis EasyPack® 100% recycled paper portfolio
*Attained International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS certification for four facilities
*Delivered over 450 hours of sustainability training to employees and 560 hours to customers

Pregis continues to invest in developing innovative products that support a circular economy. The company launched an industry-first 80% post-consumer recycled content (PCR) high-pressure inflatable cushioning product and a first-to-market Polyethylene (PE) Foam solution made with Certified Circular resins.

As shoppers and retailers head back to more routine day-to-day activities following the holiday chaos, one activity that is likely to continue well into February is gift returns. Returns are a routine cost of doing business for online retailers as part of a positive user experience. But the holidays offer more significant challenges regarding returns, particularly when you add more brick-and-mortar stores to the situation. The National Retail Federation estimates consumers will return about 16.5 percent of their gifts. A UPS study puts that at around 23 percent - a quarter of the gifts given over the holidays. In cases where an item still has value after being returned, it is imperative to maintain the integrity of the product during shipment. The easiest way to do that is through effective packaging.

Trioworld to acquire Palamy-BRJ

Trioworld Group signed an agreement to acquire the French companies Palamy and BRJ through a purchase of all the shares in Sopal SAS. Palamy SAS (Palamy) and Beaudet et René Jean Emballage SAS (BRJ) are both leading players in high performance packaging solutions for bread, frozen food, and other consumer packaging applications in the French market. “We are looking forward to welcoming Palamy-BRJ to the Trioworld Group. The acquisition will give us the opportunity to grow an even stronger position in the market for advanced food packaging solutions in Europe.
