Suzano terminates negotiations on potential IP takeover

Koehler Paper has launched the world’s lightest heat-sealable flexible packaging paper - Koehler NexPlus® Seal Pure 36 gsm. Despite its low grammage, Koehler NexPlus® Seal Pure 36 gsm has high strength and is ideal for further processing on commercially available packaging machines for horizontal packaging formats, such as flow packs and wrapping paper. The paper’s outstanding surface makes it suitable for flexographic, digital, and gravure printing. The low grammage of Koehler NexPlus® Seal Pure 36 gsm helps to reduce the use of materials in its production, saving valuable resources without having to compromise on essential properties for packaging paper.

Stora Enso has completed the conversion of its Oulu paper mill for production of packaging board. The pulp mill has been in production since mid-January and the newly converted machine is in a start-up phase. The project began in May 2019 following a decision to invest EUR 350 million, and it was completed within the budget frame. The packaging machine will now be ramped up during the first quarter and is expected to reach its designed production capacity by the end of this year. The new line producing kraftliner will serve global customers in demanding packaging end-uses that require strength, purity and strong visual appearance features. The product, AvantForteTM by Stora Enso, has three fiber layers, making it the strongest kraftliner in Stora Enso’s portfolio. Packaging applications include fresh, fatty or moist food, as well as high-end e-commerce packaging. “Completing the Oulu Mill conversion is an important step in our transformation and responds to increasing global market demand for circular and eco-friendly packaging materials,” says President and CEO Annica Bresky.

Amcor Rigid Packaging (ARP) introduces the DairySeal™ line of packaging that features ClearCor™, an advanced polyethylene terephthalate (PET) barrier. With the introduction of DairySeal, the exploding nutritional, dairy alternatives, and ready-to-drink (RTD) market will now have a more sustainable packaging option that can be leveraged across all retail channels. The ClearCor PET barrier technology is a concentrated capsulation in the center of the preform that allows more flexibility and resin options. This technology positively impacts the overall performance of the barrier in the packaging and maintains recyclability. The DairySeal line of packaging can be made with up to 80 percent of recyclable material while maintaining superior taste and performance for the brand.
