$91 Million Upgrade at Monticello Mill to Boost Efficiency, Industry Competitiveness

Construction is scheduled to begin soon on a $91 million upgrade at Georgia-Pacific’s containerboard mill in Monticello, Mississippi. It’s one of the company’s largest investments in the Lawrence County facility.

The project consists of replacing the log line, which includes scales, cranes, a rechipper, unbinding racks and other critical equipment needed to safely unload trucks and prepare logs and chips for processing into pulp.

“This project will create long-term value and improve our capabilities as we work to become the best manufacturer in the industry,” said Drexel Lambert, vice president for Georgia-Pacific containerboard operations.

The new log line will reduce truck unloading times, improve truck traffic flow, allow for longer logs and improve wood yield. It will also improve the facility’s competitive position in the industry and will strengthen the mill’s relationships with wood suppliers.

Pioneering sustainable packaging technology with PulPac

Klabin reports Adjusted EBITDA of R$ 1.843 billion in the second quarter of 2022

Klabin, Brazil’s largest producer and exporter of paper for packaging and sustainable solutions for paper packaging, besides offering hardwood pulp, softwood pulp and fluff to the market, has reported Adjusted EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization) of R$1.843 billion in the second quarter of 2022, excluding non-recurring effects, an increase of 2% from the same period last year. Net revenue reached R$ 5.039 billion in the second quarter of this year, up 24% year on year, driven by higher sales volume and consistent growth across all business lines, which offset the impact caused by the higher real vis-à-vis the dollar on exports during the period.
