Average Delivery Time Across Postal Service Network Remains Stable

The United States Postal Service reported new delivery performance metrics for the seventh week of the second quarter for fiscal year 2023 showing consistent delivery performance across all mail categories. The average time for the Postal Service to deliver a mailpiece or package across the nation remained at just 2.5 days.

FY23 second quarter service performance scores covering Jan. 1 through Feb. 17 included:
*First-Class Mail: 91.0% of First-Class Mail delivered on time against the USPS service standard, consistent with performance from the fiscal first quarter.
*Marketing Mail: 94.4% of Marketing Mail delivered on time against the USPS service standard, consistent with performance from the fiscal first quarter.
*Periodicals: 86.1% of Periodicals delivered on time against the USPS service standard, an increase of 1.5 percentage points from the fiscal first quarter.

*Total net sales were $135.8 million, a decrease of $25.9 million or 16.0%, compared to $161.7 million last year. *Gross profit was $41.7 million, or 30.7% of net sales, compared to $51.7 million, or 32.0% of net sales last year. *Operating income was $7.7 million, or 5.7% of net sales, compared to operating income of $12.1 million, or 7.5% of net sales, last year. *Net income was $5.3 million, or $0.18 per diluted share, compared to $9.3 million, or $0.31 per diluted share, last year.

L Brands Reports April 2018 Sales

L Brands, Inc. reported net sales increased 4 percent to $751.6 million for the four weeks ended May 5, 2018, compared to net sales of $719.6 million for the four weeks ended April 29, 2017. Comparable sales for the four weeks ended May 5, 2018, were flat compared to the four weeks ended May 6, 2017, and were negatively impacted by the earlier Easter holiday this year by about 3 percentage points. The company reported net sales of $2.626 billion for the first quarter ended May 5, 2018, an increase of 8 percent compared to sales of $2.437 billion for the quarter ended April 29, 2017. Comparable sales for the first quarter ended May 5, 2018, increased 3 percent compared to the thirteen weeks ended May 6, 2017.
