Wynnchurch Invests in Nekoosa, Growing Appvion Platform

Appvion, a Wynnchurch Capital, L.P. (“Wynnchurch”) portfolio company, announced the addition of Nekoosa Coated Products, LLC (“Nekoosa” or the “Company”) to the platform. Headquartered in Nekoosa, Wisconsin, Nekoosa is a leading provider of specialty engineered materials for the graphics and commercial print markets in North America and Europe.

Mercer International Inc. reports second quarter and first half 2021 results

Mercer International Inc. reported second quarter 2021 Operating EBITDA increased to $83.8 million from $40.5 million in the second quarter of 2020 and from $82.0 million in the first quarter of 2021. In the second quarter of 2021, net income was $21.4 million compared to a net loss of $8.4 million in the second quarter of 2020 and net income of $5.9 million in the first quarter of 2021. In the first half of 2021, Operating EBITDA increased by 70% to $165.8 million from $97.5 million in the same period of 2020. In the first half of 2021, net income was $27.3 million compared to a net loss of $11.8 million in the same period of 2020.

Paper Excellence Announces Corporate Knights Best 50 Win

Paper Excellence announced it has been voted one of Canada’s 2021 Best 50 corporate citizens by Corporate Knights. This is the fourteenth time that the company has achieved the Best 50 award with Corporate Knights. (Previous awards were presented to Catalyst Paper which is now wholly owned by Paper Excellence.) Paper Excellence operates six pulp and paper facilities in British Columbia and Saskatchewan.
