Global leader in dispensing systems Aptar Beauty has released a new plastic fragrance pump made with post-consumer recycled resin (PCR). Color Code PCR is the first fragrance pump on the market to include up to 67%* of mechanical PCR Plus material without compromising on customization options and aesthetics. By integrating up to 67%* of mechanical PCR Plus content during manufacturing, Aptar reduces the product’s CO2 emissions by up to -39% versus the version using conventional resin. This number has been verified by a comprehensive Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) of the raw materials using Aptar’s internal Eco Design tool**. By choosing Color Code PCR over a conventional plastic equivalent, brands can reduce their Scope 3 carbon emissions, while benefiting from a ready-to-use PCR content claim. Depending on the region, using this pump may also help brands avoid some extra plastic packaging tax.

Announced in 2018, Sonoco’s commitments for sustainable use and increased recyclability of packaging by 2025 include: *Sonoco will increase the equivalent by weight, the amount it recycles, or causes to be recycled, from 65 percent to 85 percent, relative to the volume of packaging it places into to the global marketplace. In 2019, the Company recycled or caused to be recycled 83 percent of the products it placed in the marketplace. *Sonoco is committed to increasing the use of post-consumer recycled resins in its plastic packaging from 18 percent to 25 percent. Sonoco utilized 21 percent recycled content in its plastic supply chain in 2019, including 18 percent post-consumer content. *Sonoco will ensure that approximately 75 percent of its rigid plastic packaging can carry the relevant on-package recyclable claim.

This reflects the end of the period of disruption in world supply that began in 2020 with Covid-19, which was characterized by disruption to global logistics impacting demand, price fluctuations leading to high inventories, and subsequent destocking.
