Ox Industries Expands Footprint with South Carolina Acquisition

Marc Shore, president of WestRock’s Multi Packaging Solutions (MPS) business, decided to leave WestRock, effective August 17, 2020. Patrick Kivits has assumed the role of president, MPS since Shore’s departure. Kivits joined WestRock in 2019 from H.B. Fuller and has served as the executive vice president for MPS since that time, where he was responsible for the company’s MPS North America operations. In this role, Kivits worked to ensure an ongoing commitment to customers while driving continuous growth, innovation and exceptional results. He also served as steward of WestRock’s China Operations, guiding a cohesive company presence while supporting the company’s MPS China Operations.

Mondi has added to its range of sustainable premium food and pet food packaging solutions with the launch of RetortPouch Recyclable. The new high-barrier pouch will replace complex multi-layer and unrecyclable packaging for a range of food and wet pet food products. Moist or semi-moist foods that are heat-treated in steam or hot water retort vessels to achieve commercial sterilisation for shelf-stable foods require retort packaging. The aluminium typically used in most solutions has been substituted with an innovative high-barrier film that keeps temperatures high and maintains short processing times during the retort process. The new mono-material retort packaging is fully recyclable, offering a solution that protects the product, provides exceptional shelf life for a mono-material solution and reduces potential food waste.

Mondi has brought together industry leaders in an expert round table to discuss how to improve the circularity of used paper bags in the construction industry. The event looked at how to build systems that will prevent the disposal of used paper bags, working towards implementing a process of efficient collection, sorting, and recycling that can be managed on an industrial scale. The partners attending were representatives from different parts of the value chain, namely Mondi, Envalora, Neinor Homes, OHLA, Arpada, Macotran, RCD Asociacion, S. Solís, Uder, Alier, Saint-Gobain and CoCircular. These like-minded industry leaders share a vision of boosting the circularity of paper bags used in the construction industry and see collaboration and stakeholder dialogue as a critical activity to achieve this.
