Pregis opens new paper packaging converting facility in the Netherlands

The 12,000 square meter (130,000 square feet) plant will be cutting and slitting large master rolls of 100% recycled paper into smaller rolls and fan-folded stacks for use with Pregis EasyPack cushioned paper packaging machines and other e-commerce applications.

“The demand for packaging solutions for e-commerce applications continues to grow at a rapid pace. Pregis’ investment in this new facility will provide additional output to support European fulfillment operations looking for a paper-based packaging solution,” said Pieter van Dongen Torman, commercial director, Pregis Europe.

A signatory of The Climate Pledge, Pregis is on a mission to help companies choose protective packaging solutions that are suited to specific applications, so they can be confident they’re doing their part to protect the environment. In support of those objectives, and its own 2K30 environmental goals, the new facility will be fitted with solar panels and full LED, motion-activated lighting.

The facility will also feature an automated shuttle system for internal transport of finished goods and 12 loading docks to efficiently manage inbound and outbound logistics. It will also be offering new employment opportunities for workers residing in the Born area.

Fortis Solutions Group Acquires Identi-Graphics

Fortis Solutions Group LLC ("Fortis"), a leading provider of high impact printed packaging solutions and a portfolio company of funds managed by Harvest Partners, LP, announced the acquisition of Identi-Graphics, Inc. based in Montgomery, Illinois. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Identi-Graphics is a manufacturer and printer of pressure sensitive labels and flexible packaging products serving the snack, bakery, confectionary, cosmetic and chemical end markets in the U.S. and Canada. The company specializes in the printing of bar wrappers for the nutritional supplement industry, in both heat and cold seal applications. Fortis President and CEO John O. Wynne, Jr. said, "Fortis is excited to bolster its flexible packaging and label capabilities in key end-markets with the acquisition of Identi-Graphics. Distilled by the Sea, Packed by Crown

Known as the ‘Gin Distilled by the Sea,’ Fishers worked closely with Crown Aerosols & Promotional Packaging Europe to produce a design that captures the signature colors and netted style of its standard bottle. This cohesiveness ensured the new package remained true to the brand’s well-established identity. Fishers approached the design process with enthusiasm and a desire to push the envelope. The brand engaged Crown for its expert advice and guidance from the beginning of the project, having been inspired by its diverse and creative metal packaging portfolio. Using the concept of a white tin and fishnet look as a starting point, Crown’s design and in-house engineering team counselled Fishers on the overall style of the tin, as well as how to attain the best graphic results when printing on metal. Crown and Fishers collaborated on each detail of the gifting tin, testing different concepts and combinations until the tin achieved the desired premium look and feel.
