Lecta Publishes it 2020 Environmental Report

Lecta has published its new 2020 Environmental Report, highlighting actions and improvements carried out over the last two years. As a responsible company firmly committed to sustainability, minimizing our environmental footprint is one of our main objectives.

In a year marked by the devastating impact of the pandemic and the consequent loss of production efficiency, the new report shows how the primary environmental goals of this period were still achieved. It further defines new commitments for the future and an overall goal to return to the extraordinarily positive trends in our environmental parameters prior to COVID-19.

The report also underscores the considerable organizational effort made in response to the pandemic to ensure to the greatest degree possible the health and safety of everyone who is part of Lecta, while maintaining operations and service to our customers, who serve essential market segments.

New environmental improvement projects and investments, totaling more than 89 million euros over the last ten years, will allow Lecta to continue making progress in making its manufacturing processes more efficient and optimizing its responsible use of natural resources.

In addition, our constant search for new innovative products and solutions based on natural, renewable raw materials enables Lecta to firmly renew our commitment to creating a more sustainable world.

Twin Rivers Paper Announces Agreement to Acquire Pine Bluff, Arkansas Paper Mill from Mondi Group

Twin Rivers Paper Company LLC announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the paper mill located in Pine Bluff, Arkansas owned by Mondi Group. Twin Rivers, headquartered in Madawaska, Maine, produces specialty packaging, label, publishing, and technical specialty papers as well as dimensional lumber. It is owned jointly by Atlas Holdings LLC and Blue Wolf Capital. The acquisition is anticipated to be completed in Q2 2018. Terms were not disclosed. The Pine Bluff mill to be acquired under this Agreement produces Multiwall, Converting and Grocery Bag grade unbleached kraft papers serving a variety of food, agricultural, and industrial applications. GreenFirst sells interest in private forest land for $49.25 million

GreenFirst Forest Products Inc. is pleased to announce that its subsidiary, GreenFirst Forest Products (QC) Inc. has entered into an agreement to sell its interest in approximately 203,000 acres of private forest land to Perimeter Forest Limited Partnership for cash consideration totaling $49.25 million. The Property is located in the boreal forest south of Kapuskasing, Ontario. “The sale of these lands will allow Perimeter to foster long term ecosystem benefits on the Property and unlocks hidden value for GreenFirst shareholders.” Daniel Andres, Perimeter’s Chief Operating Officer noted that “GreenFirst’s legacy of good stewardship of the land combined with its attractive ecological features were value drivers for Perimeter”.

Metsä Group donates a total of EUR 500,000 to the universities of Helsinki and Oulu

Metsä Group has donated EUR 250,000 each to the University of Helsinki and the University of Oulu. These donations will be allocated to science, agriculture and forestry at the University of Helsinki and to technology at the University of Oulu. Metsä Group wants to invest in developing teaching and research in these fields. “Metsä Group produces recyclable products from northern wood for the daily needs of people around the world.
