Amcor reports year to date results

Highlights – Nine Months Ended March 31, 2021
•GAAP Net Income of $684 million, up 58%; GAAP earnings per share (EPS) of 43.8 cents per share, up 63%;
•Adjusted EPS of 51.5 cents per share, up 16% on a comparable constant currency basis;
•Adjusted EBIT of $1,144 million, up 9% on a comparable constant currency basis;
•$55 million Bemis cost synergies year to date; expect approximately $70 million in FY21 and well positioned todeliver at least $180 million by end of fiscal 2022;
•Quarterly dividend higher than this quarter last year at 11.75 cents per share;
•Approximately 2% of outstanding shares repurchased year to date; and
•Fiscal 2021 outlook for adjusted EPS growth raised to 14-15% in constant currency terms (previously 10-14%).

Strong result and continued momentum drive increased guidance for Fiscal 2021
Amcor’s CEO Ron Delia said: “Amcor is maintaining momentum and executing well in the face of a dynamic operating environment. As a result, we delivered strong year-to-date performance and we are raising our full year adjusted EPS growth outlook to 14-15% in constant currency terms.”

“The business delivered strong adjusted EBIT growth of 9% on a year to date basis and organic growth has continued to strengthen as we progress through the fiscal 2021 year. Delivery of cost synergies related to the Bemis acquisition continues to progress ahead of original expectations leaving us well positioned to exceed the original target with at least $180 million of pre-tax benefits by the end of fiscal 2022.”

Warm beige – the new white for hygiene products

Although many of us use products containing fluff pulp, some of us daily, it is one of those materials which is surprisingly unknown to the wider group of consumers. Fluff pulp is a type of wood pulp typically used in absorption cores of baby diapers, sanitary pads, incontinence products and various forms of air-laid nonwoven products. Not many consumers know what fluff pulp is, and that it in many cases is the only natural raw material in a typical disposable hygiene product. Even if a single absorbent hygiene product only contains a few grams of fluff pulp, the massive number of products consumed every day make that global fluff pulp market big. In 2023 it is projected to reach over 7 million tons globally (Global Fluff Pulp Consumption, projection according to Smithers). We describe NaturaFluff Eco as an oxygen delignified fluff pulp. This means that it is not bleached, only treated with oxygen to remove the remaining lignin after the cooking of the pulp. By not bleaching the fluff pulp we save approximately 80 kgs of bleaching chemicals per airdried tonne of fluff pulp. This corresponds to a saving of the carbon footprint by more than 30% compared to bleached fluff pulp.

ePac Flexible Packaging Sets Strategy for Continued Double-Digit Growth

ePac Flexible Packaging, founded in 2016 as the world’s first all-digital flexible packaging company, just turned 8 years old in May of this year. So it’s fair to ask: How is ePac doing with its disruptive business model? From 2016 through 2022 ePac consistently grew 50 -100% per year. In 2023 ePac’s growth slowed, but units produced still increased 30% over 2022 as new customer acquisition remained strong. Today, ePac is an international company with ~$200M in sales. In 2023, and still in 2024, the flexible packaging industry came under significant financial pressure caused by a myriad of factors including inflation, higher interest rates, supply chain issues, emergence from COVID 19, and the availability of capital. The industry, in general, saw top line sales decline and underlying costs increase. ePac responded with a reassessment of its strategy, and took several key steps to mitigate what was/is happening industry-wide.

Aptar Food + Beverage’s Freyung, Germany plant receives ISCC PLUS Certification

Aptar Food + Beverage’s Freyung site in Germany is excited to announce the achievement of the ISCC* PLUS Certification, a chain of custody certifications based on the mass balance model, that enables the use of resin from recycled mixed plastics feedstock or bio-based renewable feedstock. Consumer Product Goods (CPG’s) companies around the globe are increasingly searching for recycled polypropylene (rPP) materials for food products, but currently, rPP is not approved for food-grade products in Europe by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and Food Standards Agency (FSA) in the UK.
