Barnes & Noble Announces Most Anticipated Books of September

Barnes & Noble, Inc., the world’s largest retail bookseller, today released its Most Anticipated Books for September to launch a stacked fall publishing season after delays due to COVID-19.

“A lot more reading has been done this year, one of the very few silver linings to COVID-19. Even so, new publishing has been peddling very gently since late March, absent the support of bookstores. Now the floodgates have well and truly opened, just as our bookstores get back into their stride,” said Barnes & Noble CEO James Daunt. “This is when our booksellers come into their own, applying their skills to curate the best from amongst the plethora of new publishing. Our Most Anticipated Books list for September is a bold introduction to the riches of the fall publishing. With so much that is new, bookstores have suddenly become very exciting.”

Agency Forecasts: Look For Growth In The 4%-5% Range Next Year

Expect some moderate growth in advertising in 2018. That growth will be boosted in part by big events like the Olympics and mid-term political elections. Below are summaries of the newly issued forecasts from WPP’s GroupM, Interpublic’s Magna, and Publics Group’s Zenith. WPP’s GroupM is forecasting global ad expenditure growth of 4.3% in 2018 to nearly $558 billion. That estimate is based on the assumption that 2017 expenditures will be 3.1% to about $535 billion. For North America, the firm estimates that expenditures will reach almost $200 billion next year, up 3.4%, following a 2.2% gain this year to more than $193 million. USPS Reports Consistent Performance Across All Mail Categories

FY23 third quarter service performance scores covering April 1 through April 14, included: *First-Class Mail: 91.5% of First-Class Mail delivered on time against the USPS service standard, consistent with performance from the fiscal second quarter. *Marketing Mail: 95.8% of Marketing Mail delivered on time against the USPS service standard, an increase of 1.2 percentage points from the fiscal second quarter. *Periodicals: 87.8% of Periodicals delivered on time against the USPS service standard, an increase of 1.3 percentage points from the fiscal second quarter.
