Smurfit Kappa, expert in complete Bag-in-Box® packaging solutions, is official partner of the Concours International Wine in Box contest once again.
Smurfit Kappa has had a strategic partnership with the prestigious Bag-in-Box® wine contest since it began four years ago. During that time, the contest, which involves 130 wineries from 15 countries, has become a trusted global reference for consumers.
This competition showcases the stars of the Bag-in-Box® wine industry. Last year, almost 400 wines were tasted by 120 professional tasters but only the best were awarded with the ‘Best Wine in Box’ label.
The wine industry has seen a sharp increase in the number of premium wines available in Bag-in-Box® packaging. In France, for example, the growth in value is higher than the growth in volume and in the United States, the premium wines are the most dynamic segment in boxed wines.
The rising popularity among consumers is due to a growing awareness and appreciation of its convenience and longer shelf-life. Thanks to the great technological features of the system, including quality bags, the Vitop® tap and outer boxes, the quality and properties of the wine are maintained for several weeks after opening.
Smurfit Kappa Bag-in-Box® has been the natural choice of partner of the Concours competition as it shares the same goals of improving the overall quality of Bag-in-Box® wines and supporting the current upmarket move of Bag-in-Box® wines. The contest provides a great opportunity for wine producers to gain recognition and consumers to get a more in-depth discovery of boxed wines.
The next Concours gathering will take place on the 23 March 2018 in Toulouse where the jury will gather for the blind-tasting.
