Koehler Paper Group, leading manufacturer of thermal paper is increasing prices for its thermal paper product range by 12-15 % for shipments from April 1st, 2018 onwards.
This increase is essential in order to offset the extreme rise of specialty chemical costs, mainly colorformer as well as historically high pulp prices.

The company reported operating income of $102 million in the quarter, compared to $406 million in the second quarter of 2021. The $304 million variation reflects lower realized prices and shipments in wood products ($342 million), partly offset by higher realized prices in the pulp and paper segments ($32 million), and higher volume in market pulp ($9 million). The wood products segment generated operating income of $64 million in the quarter, a decrease of $341 million from the previous quarter. The average transaction price increased by $39 per metric ton, or 5%, to $826 per metric ton, with gains in all grades. The tissue segment incurred an operating loss of $9 million in the quarter, $2 million wider than the previous quarter. The average transaction price decreased by $60 per short ton, or 3%, due to unfavorable product mix, while delivered costs decreased by $109 per short ton, or 5%, with less downtime than in the previous quarter. The company generated an operating income of $16 million in the paper segment in the quarter, an increase of $23 million from the previous quarter. The average transaction price rose by $54 per metric ton, or 9%, with price recovery reflecting tightening global markets.
Interfor Corporation announced that it has reached an agreement with WestRock Company to acquire its sawmill located in Summerville, South Carolina (the “Summerville Mill”) for cash consideration of US$59 million. For the 12 months ended December 31, 2020, the Summerville Mill produced approximately 125 million board feet of lumber. A new permit was received in 2020 that allows for the production of up to approximately 200 million board feet of lumber per year and Interfor has identified a number of operational and capital investment initiatives to optimize and increase production going forward. The Summerville Mill is located 65 miles southwest of Interfor’s Georgetown, South Carolina mill and 115 miles northeast of Interfor’s Meldrim, Georgia mill. This strategic positioning will allow for log sort optimization and procurement synergies across these three mills.
For the first six months of 2022, Clearwater Paper reported net sales of $1 billion, a 22% increase compared to net sales of $832 million for the first six months of 2021. Net income for the first six months of 2022 was $31 million, or $1.83 per diluted share, compared to net loss for the first six months of 2021 of $40 million, or $2.37 per diluted share. On a non-GAAP basis, Clearwater Paper reported adjusted net income in the first six months of 2022 of $36 million, or $2.13 per diluted share, compared to first six months of 2021 adjusted net loss of $6 million, or $0.37 per diluted share. Adjusted EBITDA for the first six months was $122 million, compared to the first six months of 2021 Adjusted EBITDA of $69 million. Net sales in the Pulp and Paperboard Products segment were $562 million for the first six months of 2022, up 26% compared to net sales of $447 million in the first six months of 2021. Segment operating income for the first six months of 2022 was $102 million, compared to $38 million for the first six months of 2021.
