Wendy’s, Church’s Chicken and Taco Bell all honored North America’s Foodservice business unit with significant awards earned for delivering outstanding service and design. As three of the most globally recognizable quick-service restaurants in the industry, these are obviously great honors for our company.
Wendy’s Golden Link Award – Awarded only once every two years, the Golden Link Awards recognize top supply chain partners. Huhtamaki was honored for their strong commitment to its partnership with Wendy’s and delivering excellent products at a fair price.
And Huhtamaki went above and beyond that standard by supporting unforeseen spikes in demand for 20 oz. paper cups and fry cartons during the Wendy’s successful 4 for $4 promotion, as well as 12 oz. paper cups for a 50-cent Frosty promotion.
During the awards ceremony, Richard Leach, Manager of Packaging and Indirect for Wendy’s, said that Huhtamaki stepped in without hesitation to supply additional product on short notice and even invested in a new 12 oz. cup fabricator to increase capacity of future promotions.
Church’s Chicken Supplier of the Year – Huhtamaki collaborated with Church’s Chicken to globally source the paperboard used in producing the Church’s boxes and cartons.
“Their ‘get it done’ attitude is why we are honoring Huhtamaki as a 2017 Excellence in Leadership Conference Supplier of the Year,” said Vice President of Supply Chain for Church’s, Chris Ward. “Huhtamaki has been a strong partner for Church’s Chicken. They provide consistent, high quality products and services while continuing to be cost competitive.”
Paul Lindquist, Senior Manager of Procurement and Supply Chain for Church’s, and Steve Lash, Senior Director of Distribution and Logistics, joined Ward on stage to give the well-deserved recognition.
“Huhtamaki is proud to receive the award of Supplier of the Year and is very grateful for the recognition,” said Teresa Leonard, National Account Manager for Church’s at Huhtamaki. “We value our relationship with Church’s and view our partnership as an example of how collaboration, hard work and respect can lead to mutual success. It is a great honor to be chosen as Supplier of the Year.”
Yum! Brands/RSCS STAR Award for Taco Bell’s Packaging Supplier of the Year – During their Annual STAR Award ceremony, Yum! Brands and Restaurant Supply Chain Solutions (RSCS) chose Huhtamaki as Taco Bell’s Packaging Supplier of the Year.
RSCS is the exclusive supply chain management organization for Yum! Brands’ domestic restaurants, including Taco Bell. Yum! Brands and RSCS selected the winners through the STAR program. Named for Supplier Tracking, Assessment and Recognition, STAR uses audits and surveys to rate performance levels.
“Taco Bell’s desire to bring innovative packaging to the market place helps push us to deliver outstanding packaging,” Britney Truitt, National Account Manager, said. “We are honored to have our manufacturing excellence recognized and sincerely value our partnership.”
Huhtamaki created a package that showcased Taco Bell’s novel Naked Chicken Chalupa introduced in early 2017. The holster design allows the food to protrude the shell making it “bite ready”. Secondly, Huhtamaki supported Taco Bell’s sustainability initiatives by converting a plastic package to a paper box for their Fiesta Taco Salad.
