Dennis expands with acquisition

Publisher Dennis Publishing has added to its current affairs division with the acquisition of MoneyWeek, a leading financial title.

The magazine had been published by Agora Publishing since 2003 and now joins the group’s flagship The Week magazine, along with The Week Junior, as publications within its current affairs division.

MoneyWeek, which had a weekly circulation of 46,498 in the period July to December 2016, was founded in 2000 by The Week founder Jolyon Connell and its current editor-in-chief Merryn Somerset Webb, who is staying on as editor along with John Stepek.

Editorial staff are moving across to The Week’s London premises. It is unclear at the moment where the magazine will be printed.

Rolf Hellermann Appointed as New CFO of Bertelsmann

At its meeting today, the Bertelsmann Supervisory Board appointed Rolf Hellermann as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the international media, services and education company. Rolf Hellermann, currently CEO of the Bertelsmann subsidiary Arvato Financial Solutions and a member of Bertelsmann’s Group Management Committee, will take up his position as CFO and member of the Bertelsmann Executive Board with effect from January 1, 2021. He succeeds Bernd Hirsch, who is leaving the company at his own request to pursue new professional challenges. Bernd Hirsch had previously asked the Supervisory Board to release him from his position on the Board of Management with effect from the end of the year 2020. Internet Companies Speak Out, Support Net Neutrality

Amazon, Google and Twitter, along with hundreds of companies, sent a message Wednesday that net neutrality rules protecting the open internet are in danger of being dismantled by the Trump administration and new FCC head Ajit Pai. Rules currently in place ensure new and existing services, such as search, whether offered by an established internet company like Google, a broadband provider, or a small startup, have the same ability to reach users on an equal playing field. Dismantling net neutrality would change the playing field. Airbnb, Reddit and dozens of others also joined in protest, putting notices on their websites urging visitors to protect the internet and ensure free and open browsing. For 15th Consecutive Week, More than 93 Percent First-Class Mail Delivered On-Time

The United States Postal Service reported new delivery performance metrics for the first week of the fiscal fourth quarter. The latest numbers show First-Class Mail performance exceeded 93 percent on-time delivery for the 15th consecutive week. For the first week of FY2022 Q4, the average time for the Postal Service to deliver a mailpiece or package across the nation was 2.5 days. FY2022 fourth quarter service performance scores covering July 1 through July 8 included: *First-Class Mail: 94.0 percent of First-Class Mail delivered on time against the USPS service standard, an increase of .5 percentage points with performance from the fiscal third quarter. *Marketing Mail: 93.2 percent of Marketing Mail delivered on time against the USPS service standard, a decrease of 1.4 percentage points from the fiscal third quarter. *Periodicals: 86.9 percent of Periodicals delivered on time against the USPS service standard, an improvement of .5 percentage point from the fiscal third quarter.
